APPG for Global TB holds 2022 AGM

On Tuesday 24th May, the APPG for Global Tuberculosis held its Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Virendra Sharma MP and Lord Herbert of South Downs were re-elected as Co-Chairs unanimously. Additionally, four other officers were elected:

Pauline Latham MP - Vice-Chair

Catherine West MP - Vice-Chair

Baroness Suttie - Vice-Chair

Baroness Masham - Vice-Chair

RESULTS UK were re-appointed as the secretariat of the APPG.

The group held a general discussion to highlight some of the key TB events for the upcoming year. In September, the Global Fund will hold its seventh replenishment campaign. This is a vital moment for the TB sector as the Global Fund accounts for 77% of all international TB funding. 2023 will also see the next United Nations High-Level Meeting on Tuberculosis (UNHLM), and the APPG has committed to securing high-level British representation at that event.

Additionally, the APPG agreed to:

- Continue pushing the UK Government to pledge a generous amount to the upcoming Global Fund replenishment campaign.

- Increase the membership of the APPG to develop new TB champions across Parliament

- Release a report in advance of the 2023 UNHLM

- Push for a debate to discuss the 2023 UNHLM

Finally, the APPG heard from Clare Symonds, RESULTS UK's Senior Policy Advocacy Officer, who discussed a report she has authored which looked at the Global Fund's response to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
