In April 2018, the All Party Parliamentary Group’s co-chairs, Nick Herbert MP and Virendra Sharma MP, were joined by forty members of parliament from thirty-five countries in New York to discuss the forthcoming UN High Level on TB with civil society, TB experts and UN Missions.

The summit was convened by the Global TB Caucus, a unique network of parliamentarians united by their shared commitment to end the TB epidemic. Led by its members, the Caucus aims to transform the response to TB through targeted interventions at national, regional and global levels.

The All-Party Parliamentary Group’s co-chair, the Rt Hon Nick Herbert CBE MP, also co-chairs the Caucus alongside Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, Minister of Health for South Africa. Under their leadership, the Caucus has grown into a network of over 2,300 parliamentarians in more than 132 countries.

During their time in New York, the Caucus agreed two position papers ahead of the UN High Level Meeting and the G20 Summit later in the year. Over the coming months, members of the Caucus will be working in their national and regional groups to ensure high level political commitment to ending the TB epidemic by 2030.
