On the 21st of March 2018, the All-Party Parliamentary Group will host an evening reception to mark World TB Day.

n

n

Tuberculosis (TB) remains the world’s deadliest infectious disease, killing almost 5,000 people a day. As drug-resistant strains of the disease spread, TB presents a major threat to global health security, undermining the welfare and prosperity of us all.

n

n

This year marks a turning point in the fight against TB. Having been recognised as a global priority at the G7 and G20 summits as well as during a successful ministerial meeting in Moscow last November, the first UN High Level Meeting on TB in September offers a once-in-a-generation opportunity to transform the global response to TB.

n

n

The reception will be an opportunity to reflect on the UK’s past achievements and the road ahead as the world steps up its efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal target of Ending Tuberculosis by 2030.
