Calls for international action on drug-resistant TB

July 6, 2017

Ahead of the G20 Summit in Hamburg, the Director of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and global health expert, Professor Peter Piot, has authored an article calling for 'a global assault on drug-resistant TB'; while the Financial Times' Andrew Jack has highlighted the 'catalogue of health problems' confronting world leaders including TB.

On 28 June, during a debate on the Queen's Speech, the APPG's Co-Chair Virendra Sharma MP also called on the Government to ensure that TB is prioritised in any G20 agreement on research and development to tackle AMR.

Leaders from the world's leading economies are due to meet today and tomorrow at the G20 Summit where AMR will be among the many topics to be discussed.
