Commons' Science and Technology Committee holds session on AMR with Lord O'Neill

November 30, 2016

The House of Commons' Science and Technology Committee today held an oral evidence session following up on its previous report on antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

Witnesses included Lord O'Neill, who led the independent Review on AMR and who noted the importance of TB to the AMR agenda during the session:

"Of the 10 million deaths that we suggested could happen, one third approximately would be TB, and there appear to be some interesting developments on drugs where, with a bit of momentum, there could be some breakthroughs, to break the very worrying rapid escalation of drug‑resistant TB in many highly populated emerging countries."
